Choosing between these PASMAN bags
Two sizes decide most of this page. The medium runs 18.5 by 6.7 by 13 inches and lives on a shoulder. The large runs 21 by 7.5 by 14 and carries a change of clothes with the laptop. Three inches of length and an inch of depth do not sound like much written down, and on a shoulder they are the difference between a commute bag and an overnight bag. Both take a 15.6-inch machine.
The quilting is structural, not decorative. The stitched channels stiffen the panel across its width, so the sides stay square with a load in them instead of folding around it, and the same channels let the whole bag pack flat into a suitcase lid. The trade is washing: quilted nylon takes a damp cloth and mild soap, and a machine cycle takes the loft out of the fill for good.
