Choosing between these PASMAN bags
A quilted panel is two layers of nylon with fill between them and a stitch grid holding the fill in place. The grid is why the bag has a shape at all: without it the padding migrates to the bottom in a month and the sides go slack. It is also why these bags come back after being squashed into an overhead locker, which is not true of a structured bag with a board in the base.
Inside, all three are fully lined in a smooth polyester, which matters when a laptop goes in and out twice a day: a slick lining slides, a raw seam catches. The travel tote is the one cut for a 17.3-inch screen as well as a 15.6. The shoulder bag is the smallest and the least like a work bag, with a clear zip pouch that comes out for airport security.
